A comic book creator is any one of a number of people working to create a comic book or graphic novel. The production of a comic book by the major comic book companies can involve a writer, a penciller, an inker, a colorist, and a letterer, typically overseen by an editor. Depending on the type of production, the different roles can be taken on by different persons:
In most alternative and small press comics, the same person will write and illustrate, although it is still common for a separate person to produce the color separations, and sometimes the lettering.
Within the major US comic book publishing companies, (for example, DC Comics and Marvel Comics), a different person is generally assigned to each task, although exceptions - particularly in writing/pencilling or pencilling/inking - do occur.
In Japan, a mangaka usually writes and pencils his own work, and lets his assistants to ink and editor to letter.
In other cases, typically in most European comics, there are usually two or three artists involved: a writer, an artist who provides lettered artwork, and a colorist where necessary.
Editing houses will employ letterers when translating work, and it is not uncommon for them to utilise artists to retouch artwork to make it more suitable for their domestic market.
To be a comic writer, I firstly have to have a lot of capital, as starting a comic book business will take a lot of money, and lots of time , effort and resources have to be put in if I want to even have a hope of starting a comic series. I have to be prepared to take risks, as if i don't succeed, i will lose all the money that I put in the business, and possibly go bankrupt, so i must work as hard as I can to succeed. Next, i must at least have a polytechnic education, and take an arts course to learn about art and drawing comics and if possible, go to the university to take more art courses, It is also possible to go overseas to study, and there, i might even be able to attend special schools which specialise in teaching and improving the skills of comic drawing. I will need quite a lot of experience and years of training and skills to one day be a successful comic writer, and even hardwork alone may not be enough, I will need lots of skills, practice and even some luck if i want to be a good comic writer in the future. I will need to bevery good in my drawing, art and english skills, in which my language skills are very important, there is no point drawing nice comics when my english is very bad and broken, i would have to improve in my english a lot........ or just leave it to my editors...haha. Still, I must have some qualifications and A LOT OF EXPERIENCE..... even if it means years of blood, sweat and tears to succeed at this job, and I must be very prepared and skilled if I really want to attempt this job in the future. =D
